While staying competitive in healthcare can be a challenge, it also brings out the best in forward-thinking providers who are willing to adopt innovative technologies to bring their service offerings to the next level.
Alliance Medical is one of Europe’s leading independent providers of imaging services, with operations located across the UK, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. In the UK alone, the organization provides services to 400,000 patients each year.
Through technical excellence and exceptional service, Alliance Medical has grown consistently over the past 25 years. In January 2015, the organization started a ten-year contract as leaders of a collaborative network delivering PET/CT scanning services to NHS patients at 30 locations across the country. Six months later, they were named ‘Diagnostics Provider of the Year’ at London’s HealthInvestor Awards.
The InteleOne Ripple Effect: Kentucky’s Monroe County Medical Center
Patients of a small, 49-bed acute-care hospital in rural South Central Kentucky receive the same high-priority attention and have access to the same medical specialists as their counterparts in large population centers. This is made possible by Intelerad’s InteleOne®distributed radiology solution, which has brought about dramatic changes. “Everything has improved,” said the hospital’s Director of Radiology Services, including turnaround times, quality of care, and referral volume.

Trigg County Hospital is a critical access facility serving Western Kentucky’s Trigg County, home to a large recreational area surrounding the region’s popular Lake Barkley. Most of the year, the population of this hospital’s service area is a modest 20,000, but that number can triple in the summer months. This creates unique operational challenges for the hospital. This extraordinary increase in service level is possible due to RIC’s use of InteleOne, a distributed radiology solution from Intelerad that provides seamless access to studies, priors and reports, regardless of where the radiologists – or patients – are located. InteleOne provides a single, highly productive environment in which RIC radiologists efficiently and collaboratively perform real-time professional readings.

Intelerad solution to propel radiology workflow using InteleViewer, Multi-Method Reporting and the InteleConnect portal.
“Intelerad was selected for many reasons, among them its people and outstanding service offering, but it is the IntelePACS performance and reading workflow that really impressed our radiologists and will enable their home and remote reading capabilities,” says Jean Ann Breedlove, CIO of Children’s Mercy. “IntelePACS will also allow us to extend radiology as a service component of our outreach programs for the region, which is a very important service that we provide to the outlying areas, having a huge impact on how we carry out our pediatric care and respond to emergency trauma cases.”
