A Fun Run on a Chilly Chicago Morning
by Helene Gey, Vice-President of Marketing, Intelerad
While it may not have been easy to get up at 5:30 a.m. on a chilly November morning, I must say that this morning’s 5K fun run was a truly fantastic event that was thoroughly enjoyed by its participants.
After less than a full night’s sleep, people began to trickle over to Avery Field in Chicago’s South Grant Park around 6 a.m. Following 30 minutes of warming up and stretching, the running began – with 570 members of the international radiology community running in unison to support a pillar of our industry – the RSNA Research and Education Foundation.
Since the foundation’s inception in 1984, the organization has awarded $37 million in grant funding for nearly 1000 young investigators. Even more amazing, is that for every dollar granted by the Foundation, recipients are able to secure 30 additional dollars in subsequent funding. Overall, the foundation has played a significant in researchers obtain $1 billion in funding for radiology research and education.
We’re proud to have sponsored this wonderful event, and would like to thank the organizers who helped make this event a success. We’d also like to thank everyone who took part for braving the conditions and supporting a great cause.
