Looking Back on AOCR-RANZCR 2012

It’s been almost a week since I arrived back in Montreal, and I’m happy to say that I’m fully recovered from jet lag. With a long list of action items and various deadlines to meet in the coming weeks, getting back to a regular sleep pattern will be a good thing.

That said, jet lag is a small price to pay for the opportunity to attend last week’s AOCR-RANZCR conference in Sydney, Australia. Given Intelerad’s presence in the region, the conference means a great deal to us. Not only does it provide the opportunity to interact with leading radiologists and solution vendors, but also the chance to meet face-to-face with our Oceania-based customers.

During my week down under, the majority of my time was spent at the event center, manning the booth with other Intelerad staff. We did notice that attendance was a bit lighter than expected, but maybe this was to be expected given the flawless weather and the event’s location on Sydney’s beautiful Darling Harbour. Despite this, we still had some great discussions and were able to provide a number of attendees with a preview of InteleRIS, our fully-featured solution that enhances workflow and maximizes productivity, which will be available to the Australian market in late 2013.

Despite the urge to enjoy the event’s surroundings, when not at the event center, I was able to visit a few customers to catch-up on how things are going and to see how our solutions are being used. These meetings are also great for discussing our product roadmap to give them a better idea of the features that will be added to our solutions in the near future. It was nice to see the enthusiasm that our clients had towards upcoming features, which reassures us that we are on the right path toward addressing our customers’ needs (present and future).

Another highlight of the trip was Adrian Russell’s promotion to Vice President of Operations, Oceania. Adrian joined Intelerad in 2007, and in that time has played an integral role in our growth across the region. In five years, our number of clients in the region has grown rapidly, and our staff has expanded from three people to 10, which led to Intelerad opening our Melbourne office.

As I sign off, I would just like to say thanks to everyone who took time to meet with us at the conference. We are already looking forward to next year’s conference, which will be held in the land of the long white cloud – Auckland, New Zealand. Not only will it be hosted by a new client of ours, Auckland Radiology Group, we will be sponsoring the event as well. We look forward to seeing you all there!
